How We Treat
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy consists of face-to-face verbal interaction between a qualified professional therapist, associate, intern, or trainee and the client. Participating in therapy can result in several benefits to you, including a better understanding of your personal goals and values, improved interpersonal relationships and emotional regulation, and resolution of the specific concerns which led you to seek therapy. Therapy is a collaborative process, and you have the right to ask questions and are encouraged to discuss any concerns you may have about the process.
Psychoeducation
SEEDS provides psychoeducation to private Christian school staff and teachers, parents, and families. Topics may include- Grief and Loss, Anxiety, Social Media/Technology impact on an individual’s mental health, Substance Abuse, Suicide warning signs, signs of learning disabilities, child abuse, eating disorders, conflict resolution, and identity formation.
Resources & Referrals
SEEDS staff support our clients by offering outside referrals and assistance in accessing their insurance benefits as needed. Reasons for referral include continuity of care during school breaks and holidays and referral to a therapist who offers a specialty that may benefit the client or offer a higher level of care.
CISM
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) is a specific training designed to teach individuals effective ways to manage critical incidents. CISM is not counseling, but rather a support service that provides short-term debriefing, containment and referrals to those receiving services.
Play Therapy
Play is a child’s native language, a language Therapists use to discover the emotional, behavioral and psychological issues children may be facing. Play therapy allows a child to explore their feelings and emotions at a pace they can control. This allows them to express themselves more easily through toys/play instead of words. Play therapy can is also helpful in modifying behaviors and developing problem-solving skills.
Group Therapy
In Group therapy Participants explore new ways to connect authentically with others while learning more about their personal relational patterns. This allows the development of greater empathy towards others and individual differences. Group Sessions are facilitated by a therapist who encourages contributions from all group members, allowing participants to benefit from shared experiences. Through Group Therapy participants gain insight on how to better understand themselves and others.
Crisis Assessment & Management
An emergency is an unexpected event which requires immediate attention and can be a threat to someone’s immediate health and safety. SEEDS staff provide crisis management for individuals which can include meeting with the person in crisis, providing additional resources and/or assisting in hospitalization for suicidal concerns.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that can help alleviate symptoms associated with a traumatic event. EMDR is also known to be successful in treating individuals with PTSD, anxiety, and depression. For more information on EMDR please visit https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/
